Cultural and Sightseeing Berkeley has a thriving cultural scene with an abundance of museums, art galleries and theaters. The Berkeley Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive is an impressive venue, one of the largest university art museums in the country. Another museum on the university campus is the Lawrence Hall of Science, which not only houses fascinating displays but is also a fantastic spot from which to admire breathtaking views of the city, thanks to its location in the hills. Magnificent vistas can similarly be enjoyed from the top of The Campanile, also known as Sather Tower. This iconic landmark was built on the university campus in 1914. For some cultural entertainment, there are plenty of theaters to choose from, including the Berkeley Repertory Theater and the William Randolph Hearst Greek Theater – an outdoor amphitheater with 8,500 seats. Those traveling as a family should check out the Habitot Children’s Museum which will enthrall kids with a vast number of fun interactive exhibits.
