Location & comfort

The staff did the best they could providing extra towels & coffee cups for what was apparently a room designed for one person. Location was good for event at University of Washington.

Deca did not have any Kimg bed rooms available despite our reservation. Instead we were put into a room with a smaller "full" matress room. Only two of us but cozy to say the least. A very small room. Even with the smaller bed, there was barely room to move. There was literally only one place you could stand to get the bathroom door closed. Houdini would have loved it. The closet on the other hand was almost as big as the rest of the room. Just a poor use of space and a badly designed room. Room 409 was 'quaint'.

The restaurant food is excellent but the ambience is deplorable; very dark, black dirty floors, dingy, old. The wait staff was nice and efficient. The shuttle service was prompt and the drivers were exceptionally nice. The lobby was rather comfortable with lovely murals and art deco seating but it's time to clean things up, refurbish and update the hotel. The fireplace was pleasant since the weather was very cold and windy.

I have stayed at Hotel Deca over the years and it is now very dingy and dark. Room 609 was extremely inadequate; very small, uncomfortable, toilet ran, drapes didn't close all the way so the daylight woke me up in the morning, no place to put toiletries, terrible pillows, no blanket on the bed except a throw, small bar soap in the bathroom and awful shampoo/conditioner/soap over bathtub, very poor source of heat so I was given a portable heater, and was given the excuse that it's an old hotel so things don't work properly. There was an attempt at art deco decor with dirty velvet shams on the bed with a useless bolster. Only 16 channels on the TV (no cable). One is allowed two cups of coffee in a one cup coffee maker. Overpriced for the quality of the room. Overall very dissatisfied.

Hotel desk staff were very helpful, serving as concierge, offering assistance on accessing the Metro, etc. Had dinner in the hotel restaurant the first night - pricey, but excellent food, and I was grateful to find they were still serving at 9:30 at night, when I checked in.

Fairly noisy... not much soundproofing between hallway and room, or between rooms (I could hear the telephone conversation in the next room, for instance)... After the first night, the maid removed the rubber bathmat from the bathroom and didn't replace it during the next three nights. The bathtub was quite slippery without it...
