Not much. Very old and dated.
Nothing was open nearby and the rooftop bar did not open until late. Needs a complete remodel.

The location was nice.
The a/c only worked the first night I stayed there. I could constantly hear water falling into the elevator shaft. Only one light in the restroom worked.

I liked the ambience of an historic hotel and the location, which was easy walking distance to the Birmingham-Jefferson Conference Center and to the Birmingham Museum of Art.
We had three in a room, with two double beds, and there was not the option of a roll-out bed. The double bed was a little small for two adults.
It would have been nice to have a little bit better continental breakfast - there was coffee, juice, packaged oatmeal/grits and packaged muffins. No fruit or yogurt.

It is a historic hotel and therefore the architecture has a historic feel to it with the chandeliers and the elevator doors and such.The room was clean.
They said they would provide us with a contiental breakfast, but there was not much to eat but small boxed cereal and a few muffins. There was also small amounts of coffee and orange juice, but there was no tea. It's a nice hotel, if you don't care much for breakfast.

The first room we were assigned had a sink that didn't drain and various stains. We requested a different rm and found stained floors, a stained chair, a stained mattress and a grimy bathroom. We politely requested a refund and were told very courteously, sorry and they needed to get the manager. The manager immediately accused us of making up stories and said if we didn't want to stay there we could have just said so. She refused any refunding of our money for the two nights we booked even though we only stayed long enough for a shower. I would NOT recommend this hotel.

It's a great classic hotel. Enjoyed pretty much the whole experience.
