Got alittle bit worried when we first turned up and lady at reception couldn't find our booking but she did not give up and kept her cool and smiled the whole time until she found us.

The greeting that we received at reception. We were welcomed to the hotel and the receptionist had obviously read our 'blurb' on the screen and wished us a happy wedding anniversary. Reception was quick and efficient both when checking in and out. The bursar went out of his way to accommodate our parking requirements. The hotel room was quiet, comfortable and well-appointed. There was nothing that I could recommend needed to be added. I will say the bed was a little soft for my liking and because of what felt like a latex type mattress was quite hot. I love the fact that you can open the window in the room and despite the fact that this probably turns off the air conditioning, I found that the room, ventilated from the outdoors made it easier to get to sleep. The air conditioned room alone was a little airless especially because it was a little hot. The complimentary bottle of wine and the handwritten card was a very unexpected touch and most appreciated. Thank you so much for that. The thought behind it made our weekend more special. We used the tunnel access to move across to the Aotea Centre and that was just great on such a wet and windy night.

I was disappointed in the brusqueness of the reception staff in the restaurant at breakfast time. A piece of paper was pushed in front of me when I entered. It asked whether we were having a continental or cooked breakfast and mentioned nothing about people who were on package deals. Before I had time to ask the person at the desk which one went with the package we were on, he was gone. It left me concerned that I was helping myself to a 'full' breakfast when we were only eligible to a 'continental', or maybe we were expected to pay for the breakfast when it was part of the package. It sort of spoiled the experience a little, especially the way the paper was given to us. We were here just to relax and enjoy this experience and suddenly we felt like we were just a 'number' for breakfast. The food quality and variety was excellent however.

Your facility is fantastic. Parking - very good. Staff were without exception friendly and attentive. Our meal in the restaurant was of a very high standard(and I am a harsh food critic). Your maître dix (Indian gentleman) was delightful.Great Bar staff. Lovely room. Our conference facilities were also very good. This stay contrasts sharply with the Copthorne (City) where I stayed recently. The Copthorne was more expensive and, in short, awful!
