Main reason for choosing Basecamp South Lake Tahoe: Reputation

Very laid-back, family-and dog-friendly vibe... Games to play... Yummy beer... Live music was mostly mellow and great. Continental breakfast was convenient and hearty. Loved the hard-boiled eggs and biscuits.
Karaoke Night does not count as "live music"! Awful... Dinner was nothing special, very little there for the price and the wait. Very, very weak coffee every day, and I stayed for 5 days...
