Location primarily.
Shower temperature fluctuated between too hot and too cold and not influenced by adjusting the taps. Minibar not restocked. For the price I would expect real glasses and cups, not small and plastic.

The staff were very accommodating and were willing to assist you with anything you might need. They are professional and very friendly.
We stayed only one night as we headed off to Contadora the next morning which couldn't be more convenient as the ferry dock is located behind the hotel. Having our breakfast at an early hour and included was a bonus.
The location was perfect for dining on the causeway at Alfredo's.
We would stay there again, it is a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting.

Comfort
My plane came in late on Sunday, so I got to the hotel at 10:00pm, could not find any food , your in house restaurant T.G.I Friday's was closed, the restaurants near your vicenity also were closed, couldn't even order room service. I think you need to have some sort of food items from room service available for late travelers, specially since you just expanded your facilities.

The view of the ships in the canal from our balcony.
The breakfast was excellent and the breakfast room was very pleasant.
Beautiful view of the canal from the marina docks.
The yacht club restaurant a short walk down the road was a fun place to eat.
The pool was closed for repairs.
The pool reconstruction area was not tidy. It looked as if the workers just walked away from what they were doing rather than clean up between work sessions.
The side street (trash holding area) was a mess--trash all over from overflowing dumpsters. Even if the hotel does not own the property outside its garden fence (canal side of hotel), it would benefit the hotel to make sure it is not trashy and that it is pleasant to stroll around in.

Clean, Clean, Clean! The cleaning staff were cheerful and friendly when we encountered them in the hallways.
The sloping floor to the breakfast room proved to be difficult for my elderly husband, but the stairs would have given him more trouble, so that is not really a complaint. I can't imagine anything you could do about it.

The view
Some of the attempts to "fix up" an old hotel were done poorly. Example: In the bathroom the old tiles and old baseboards looked like the place had flooded. And I ws on 3rd floor.
