Main reason for choosing The Grand Hotel: Location
I loved the live music at the bar downstairs--totally made it! I also loved the artwork everywhere, and the feel of the Grand is just so homey. The split 2nd level was also very cool (you may find yourself on the wrong side a time or two, but it's easy to find your way).
The halls and elevators get a bit balmy, but is Texas in the summer in a historic hotel, after all. My only real complaint is that the smaller room we stayed on the 3rd floor the first night smelled quite musty. The next room we stayed in (an amazing suite--the Presidential, I believe) was fabulous. Really wish I could have used that tub!

A lovely old hotel which has seemed to be maintained very well. Staff was very responsive.
The elevator was not working which made it difficult for my wife who has mobility problems. This was temporary and fixed the next day. I don't know how the Grand Hotel web site got me to "hotelsone". I paid about $50 more because of that.

Loved the location-loved the charming room and comfy bed. The lounge was a lovely place to unwind and entertain friends.
Can't change the room size, but did miss having a chair (other than the desk chair). Also, the TV was way too small--and low in the armoire. Couldn't see the screen because feet were in the way!

I like the proximity to the square. Easy to walk everywhere for an afternoon/ evening.
I feel it needs updating. There’s a need to find some cohesiveness to the decor. Bold colored Indian faces , jewel tones comforters that are dated do not match a crystal chandelier ballfroom that is “Grand”. Are you western themed? Love that it’s a quaint small boutique hotel. Not my first visit but have been in several rooms now and think it could be updated from the90’s?
