Breakfast hours not suitable for someone who is leaving early

The staff was very accommodating when we approached them about the first room which was assigned to us. The hallway leading to this room had an awful odor -- actually a stench, of which the staff was aware (there had been a "rowdy group" that stayed there the weekend before and they were "still trying to get the carpet clean and deodorized," according to the front desk attendant. In the room, the bathroom exhaust fan didn't work; there wasn't a refrigerator for medication storage that I had requested when I made the reservation, and there was an odor of tobacco smoke in the room. The staff was good enough to reassign us to the "executive tower," room 435, to be specific. In that room there was an electrical box that was hanging out of the wall behind one of the nightstands, the exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't function, and the carpet edges around the perimeter of the floor were filthy. We were only staying for one night so didn't pursue it further. We were graciously offered a complimentary breakfast at the hotel restaurant, which we felt was a very nice gesture. But, it didn't make up for our disappointment in this Holiday Inn facility. We had stayed at the Holiday Inn in Elkins, WV, the night before and it was perfect! Clean, free of noxious odors, and it had a very well appointed breakfast offering that was complimentary.
