The rooms are large and clean and the staff was friendly

The telephone in the room didn't work. That made it impossible to call the front desk. I went down to the front desk that evening and also told the staff when I checked out, but I don't know if they ever repaired it.

Had availability - reasonable cost

Since my phone was not working, I walked down to the front desk to report dogs in a neighboring room whining & barking for over an hour. I was told all that could be done was a pet violation notice left for the guest. I asked if she was able to call the guest with check-in info to let them know and she pointed to the phones and said she was unable because apparently ALL the phones were out of service. Completely unacceptable. Eventually the owner returned but until then, we were all subject to listening to the whining. The entire hallway where my room was located smelled of cigarette smoke, as well as my NON-smoking room. There is NO point of delegating non-smoking rooms when they share hallways with smoking rooms. Dedicate a wing on the top floor, since smoke rises, to only smoking rooms and place all NON-smoking guests in other hallways/floors. I literally had to put pillows under the door of my room to try and dampen the smell - didn't work. I might have well smoked a pack myself. It was DISGUSTING!

The room was clean and everything worked. The staff was welcoming and the breakfast in the morning was well stocked.

Room was not cleaned, dirty towels were refolded placed back with other towels(off the floor- with make up and other dirt easily seen), room was not vacuumed- obvious dirt on carpet upon my arrival - I had spilled onto the bathroom floor- when returned that evening the soiled contents where still on the floor. I called and spoke to from desk- asked to have the manager call me to review on Monday- (7/27)- assured he would- no call back so far (8/1).
