Homewood Suites by Hilton Columbus/Polaris, OH

The rooms were suites, so plenty of rooms.

We had 3 sets of family members staying in 3 separate suites in this hotel. One suite had a horrible mold/mildew problem- peeling wallpaper and water stains on an outer wall. Also black stains where wall met ceiling. Terrible odor- strong cleaning products covering mildew smells? Even the halls in this hotel smelled bad. I felt nauseated. The internet service was poor. One of the other suites had strong cigarette smell, but was a "non-smoking" suite. Poor lighting in all the rooms. Pool area just average. Some of staff were nice- but not all of them. Breakfast "only so-so." I would not stay here again, even though price was good.

I really liked the location of the hotel and the layout of my room. I thought the breakfast was "okay" but felt the food was either overcooked or left over from the day before. The parking was good as the hotel was not busy while I was there. I liked the free wi-ti so I could just relax in my room. The staff seemed friendly enough but I did not feel they were happy to be at work. I did like the bed as it was really comfy but I swear something bit me during the night!

I am not usually the type of person who complains but even though I loved the layout of my room I was very disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. I noticed a full candy bar wrapper on the floor by the bed (not mine) and purposely left it there to see if it would be cleaned up...NOT. I stayed at this hotel for 4 days and the wrapper is still there. I also noticed trash under the Tv cabinet. I did not clean that up as it isn't my job to do so. Another problem I had was how filthy the carpets were. There were stains and yes debris left there from the previous tenants. That bothered me so much I dared not walk around the room without some kind of shoes on. The furnishings were okay but they need a good cleaning. Also I happened to be just down the hall from a tenant who was smoking in their room. How did I know? The tenant left their door open a crack to let the smoke out! And finally a note about the linen...what is it laundered with? I would seriously think about using a different launderer or service because the towels were very itchy and torn. Bottom line: I was very disappointed and feel that if you really care about how you present your hotel to tenants you should pay more attention to cleanliness, tenant rule breakers such as s mokers in the rooms, how food is cooked for complimentary breakfasts, and the overall look of your hotel. If you have no plans to address these issues then lower the rates; drastically.

Quiet comfortable reasonable

The hotel staff was very polite.The hotel was easy to find and the price was good. I booked this room because there were 2 separate rooms. My 2 grown children went with me and this allowed for privacy for all of us.

As soon as I walked into the hotel it had a musty smell which was an Immediate turn off. The same smell was also in the room, the carpet was clean but had many stains. My daughter went in to use the bathroom only to find out the handle on the toilet was broken. They did move us to another room. The next day when I went to check out there was no one at the reservation desk. Finally an employee who was also working the free breakfast in the next room came to check me out.

We had to check out early at 6AM no one at desk. somewhat understandable with lack of help that early in morning--eventually did get help--all else was fine
