The room had bare floors, no hair dryer and very sparsely furnished.

Very friendly welcome; gave useful local info, easy access to lots of local shops and restaurants.
Convenient and pleasant BBQ area with fuel & utensils offered.
Use of bicycles was a bonus.
Everything we expected of a motel and more.
