The Padre Hotel

A great place, good staff, good location. would like to give a special shout out/ props to the bartender on duty. (July 27) - Saturday afternoon -(Mikko ?) who was very personable, professional and kept things moving while also taking care of all the servers' needs. I have seen plenty of bartenders who are not capable of doing that. Overall another good stay at the Padre.

Really, nothing to complain about -- perhaps the hottest day of the year in Bakersfield but that's not the Hotel's fault and actually the Hotel provided excellent relief from the heat.

Your staff was amazing. So accomodating and helpful on what was a complicated, stressful two days for me. We are local residents who moved out of our home to allow it to be shown in the Assistance League's annual Che Noel home tour. I was in and out of the hotel a number of times, I arrived very late and exhausted the first night and was offered a very welcome light dinner WITH martinis, delivered to my room instantly. Prior to checking in, I left belongings at the hotel much earlier in the day without complication. Every employee I came in contact with greeted me in a friendly manner. On one occasion, I was carrying a number of packages and literally every employee offered assistance which I declined; as I got into the elevator, an employee stopped the door and took some of my packages to assist me without an invitation. He carried my packages all the way to my room, made sure I was safely inside, and then introduced himself....delightfully, it was your chef....as a local resident, It was a pleasure to have the unusual opportunity to stay at the Padre ...I would highly recommend it for anyone I know traveling to or through our area

The floor maid was very gracious to have our room cleaned immediately when I returned around noon, the room had not yet been cleaned, and I was in desperate need of a nap. I simply went downstairs for lunch and returned to a cleaned room. The room seemed clean enough but I found it odd that none of my personal items had been touched. For example, my nightgown was where I had left it earlier that morning rather than hung on the bathroom hook...the vanity was not "neatened"....it may be hotel policy not to touch a guest's belongings, but it was unusual to have nothing folded or placed in a more appropriate location. I was surprised (my husband was not) that robes and slippers were not available. The only other observation of note was in the downstairs deli area....it was necessary for me to ask for service from the young lady on duty...first for coffee, then when I returned from upstairs to wait until my room was cleaned, it was necessary for me to ask for a menu, ask to place an order, ask for utensils, and I bused my lunch dishes without her stopping me....with each request, she would apologize for not having served me before I asked, but the fact remained....
