Main reason for choosing Sheraton Montreal Airport Hotel: Location

I liked the fact that when I had an accident on June 30th, both the manager and the assistant manager where there instantly. They were both very concerned. The accident occurred when the automatic parking lot arm that is supposed to lower itself upon the departure of cars in the parking lot, instead slammed down on my head as I walked through. The slam on the top of my head knocked me to the ground, a second source of pain. As we waited for the ambulance, the mechanical arm again jerked and this time grazed the manager's face, causing his skin to bleed. At the hospital, the doctor examined me and said that it appeared that I had no concussion, but that I should return to the hotel and rest. I had a large egg shaped bruise on my head, but no bleeding. Later that night, after my return from spending several hours in the room at the hospital, I was greeted by Melanie, the Assistant Manager. Together, we returned to the parking lot and examined the area. I made several recommendations, namely, that a walkway for pedestrians be clearly marked, perhaps by little painted feet on the cement. A sign of a walker was turned the wrong way (into the parking lot, not out) and, in addition, the walkway ended with a driveway that did not clearly lead to the next section of the walkway into the hotel. In other words, the walkway from the parking lot to the hotel is discontinued by a driveway leading in another direction. Melanie and I agreed that faulty vertical mechanical arm which descends like an ax, might well be replaced by a center opening horizontal gate. Melanie and I also witnessed an elderly couple walking through the gate area (in the absence of a clearly indicated alternative route back to the hotel) and the two of us called to the couple who then narrowly missed being hit by the arm just as the Manager and I had experienced. Melanie said there would be a breakfast coupon waiting for me at the front desk in the morning, that she would write up a report of the incident, including my suggestions, and she wished me a good night.
What disappointed me was that when another manager of the hotel called to see if I was well, and heard that I was indeed feeling better, he was happy to saty how very glad he was about that. Just after he wished me a lovely week ahead, I had to ask him for something that I would have appreciated being offered to me without prompting on my part, namely a night or two at the hotel another time. I explained to the manager that while the phone call was appreciated, that part of my evening at the hotel, one I'd looked forward to, was in fact spent in the waiting room at the Lachine Hospital and that the rest of the night in bed back at the hotel was spent in relative pain and worry (an ice pack nearby. I would have been glad to be reassured that I was invited to send my ambulance bill to the hotel when it arrived, that the fence recommendations were being looked at by the hotel, and that since my stay had been rendered so stressful, that the hotel would sincerely like to welcome me again another time for a more fun visit. This, rather than wishing me a lovely week ahead would have felt like genuine consideration was being extended to me. Sincerely, E. Cowan.
