It has plenty to offer those seeking a fun-filled vacation and is conveniently placed for accessing some other top Florida attractions. The Beaches Situated on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, St Pete Beach boasts white sandy beaches, warm waters, and year-round sunshine. One of the most popular beaches in the area is Upham Beach, which stretches all the way from 67th to 71st Avenue. There are restrooms, showers and food vendors, including the Seaside Grille where patrons can enjoy meals outdoors right on the beach. For those who want to escape the crowds of tourists, there are literally dozens of other beaches to choose from, not far from Upham Beach. These include Treasure Island Beach, Madeira Beach, Fort Desoto North Beach, North Shore Beach, Gandy Beach and Picnic Island, to name but a few. Attractions St Pete Beach may be a quiet resort town, but there is no shortage of opportunities to have some fun. A must-see attraction is the Florida Aquarium, featuring more than 20,000 aquatic animals and plants from all over the world – sharks, alligators, stingrays, penguins and much more. Among the activities available are an interactive ‘Swim with the Fishes’ program and a Dolphin Ecotour. Alternatively, one can view sea life in its natural habitat by taking a Dolphin Watch cruise from Hubbards Marina. Apart from dolphins, visitors can look forward to sightings of pelicans, egrets and herons, plus there is a chance of seeing some rarer species like manatees, ospreys and bald eagles. Jet skis and other watersport vehicles can also be rented from the marina. Sightseers must be sure to check out Don CeSar resort, a striking building nicknamed ‘The Pink Palace’ owing to its extraordinary exterior. Those who want to do some shopping can head to The Pier, a five-story dining and retail complex. Nearby In addition to the attractions of St Pete Beach itself, there are many points of interest in the surrounding area. For example, the cosmopolitan cities of St Petersburg, Clearwater and Tampa are all nearby. Orlando, with its abundance of Disney-themed family fun, is similarly not far away. Another kid-friendly venue in the region is Adventure Island in Tampa Bay, an impressive outdoor water theme park. Also in Tampa Bay is Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, which features a unique combination of exotic animals, roller coasters and live entertainment. Ready to experience all the delights of St Pete Beach?
