Another option is the unique Globe Theatre in Southwark, an impressive reconstruction of the open-air Elizabethan theatre where William Shakespeare’s plays were originally performed.

Just as quintessentially English is Sherlock Holmes – a dedicated museum to this much-loved fictitious detective can be found on Baker Street and is well worth a visit.

North of London Paddington, the affluent area of St John’s Wood is home to the prestigious Avenue Road filled with multi-million-Pound mansions. Also to be found here are the Lord’s Cricket Ground and Abbey Road Studios, made famous by the Beatles. Unsurprisingly, visitors are constantly holding up traffic by emulating the well-known photo of the band on the famous black-and-white crossing. 

Those looking to stock up on souvenirs can take a trip to the colorful Camden Market or browse the charming shops in the canal-side part of Maida Vale dubbed ‘Little Venice’. There are many other options for retail therapy, including the two Westfield Centers, Selfridges on Oxford Street and Harrods in Knightsbridge.
