The George at Easingwold

Good location for York, good prices, but some renovation in the rooms (we were in a backyard and not in the main house) The owners were extremely courteous and helpful in planning our trips.

A lovely weekend in comfortable surroundings with excellent breakfast. Staff very friendly and obliging. Quality and choice of evening meal in hotel bar, first class. We would recommend hotel to others without hesitation.

Although rather expensive, this is a lovely small hotel in the centre of Easingwold. We have stayed several times and have always been pleased with the accommodation and service. All the rooms are fine but the inside rooms offer modern comforts with a little old world charm - low doors, antique furniture, etc.

COMFORTABLE BED. Breakfast very good and cooked to order,unlike others where food has sat around for ages.Breakfast served in the restaurant which was pleasant enough. The bar meal which we ordered was poor and had to be taken in the rather dingy back room or at a small rather low round table in the bar area. We had a downstairs twin room which was reasonable enough and handy for the car park at the rear.

The hotel was friendly and comfortable The only draw back for us was that we are vegetarians. I did mail and phone to let you know and to see if there was an alternative for us during morning breakfast. I was told .No problem as there would be beans and toast that you could lay on . When i went for breakfast i did enquire but told there was no alternative to the english breakfast. I did not persue it any further.

A great location in Easingwold at the Market Square. Parking is still free in the market square and the hotel has a reasonable size car park to the rear. Good value if sharing a room, probably not so great if staying on your own. On the night in question, there was a pretty awful smell in the bar, something to do with the beer pipes, but it was efficiently sorted out by the next morning. The rooms are in a separate annex at the back of the hotel, so there's no problem with noise. A fine breakfast will set you up for the day.
