Main reason for choosing Avignon Grand Hotel: Location
The room and bathroom were clean. the hotel was in a good position for local trains and buses although not for the TGV station which we had believed through prior inquiries that this was the case. The TGV station is a good 15 minutes away. I would say this hotel is a businessman's hotel or good for large groups. It is impoersonal and without French charm - it could be any ordinary hotel in the world.

Friendly staff, very helpful. The location in Avignon with easy walking to all the sites (close to bus terminus and station so ideal for taking trips) Large room (with sitting room and bedroom) with a balcony although we had to pay extra for this. Good choice of food for breakfast.
The carpet in our suite was shabby and stained and the sliding doors to each of the rooms were the same, so not really 4*. Although we had paid for a superior room we had to pay extra for a room overlooking the garden at 20 euros per night! If the carpets were renewed and the sliding doors repaired or renewed then it would warrant a 4* status. Having said this the suite was cleaned and towels changed every day so housekeeping was excellent.

It was very nice.
The room service was popen only 2 hours between 7:30-9:30 p.m. It was not enough variety in breakfast.

During the Avignon festival the room rate is too high. Free wifi is slow.

Bathroom and two double beds and the receptionist this morning smiling very pleased.
No + channel were not even had the code for wireless internet and making hotel style convalescent home for the elderly. at that price would fill a free minibar with water supply and soda. Since there was no vending machine and safety problems with parking.

Good location, if coming in by train, room first given overlooking train station.
Room cleanliness, severeley lacking_ carpets filthy, mould in shower, garden areas totally unkempt, lawn area needed mowing, dead plants in garden. Public areas such as hallways etc, scuffed and in need of a good paint, they rate themselves as 5 star and charge accordingly (approx $A 500 per night per double) it may have been when new, but now we would rate about 2.5.
