We've been staying at the Brandywine River Hotel for years whenever we are in the area...usually about 2x/year. The staff is always nice and helpful. It's a great location if you're going to Longwood Gardens or the Brandywine River Museum. It's also just up the hill, within walking distance from a very good restaurant.
The hallways have recently been painted & look bright and cheery. However, we traveled with 2 other couples this time and each of our rooms looked a bit dated, especially the carpeting. The carpet in one room was really worn and unraveling. We went to the included breakfast an hour after it opened. Items were sparse and not readily replenished, as in years past.

Associate at the desk was very helpful. Breakfast was pleasant. Room was just down the hall from the front desk. Loved the fireplace.

The hotel was very comfortable and provided a quiet respite for our visit. The atmosphere is very "homey"unlike chain hotels.

We had a lovely corner room with gas fire and a huge bathroom with Jacuzzi. Genteel environment, breakfast OK, great value for price. I would never look for a competing hotel in the area.

The breakfast room was better than any Bed and Breafast, actually better than most hotel chains, as thet use table clothes and cloth napkins with their service.The rooms are well appointed and the staff very courteous.
