Everything was wonderful...

The only thing is the water in the bathroom sink smelled sooooo bad we couldn't use it to brush our teeth.

My stay at the San Luis was on a Sunday. I was not aware that the (main restaurant) Steakhouse would be closed. Alot of places in Galveston are closed on Sundays as well, so I would not recommend this hotel for Sunday. There was no shortage of guests, so there was no reason for them to be closed on Sunday. For the price it was still a bit of a waste.

It was perfect in every respect.

General atmosphere--I have stayed here before and will again.

Yes, the check-in time is too late in the afternoon. I requested an early check-in and got the run-a-round for almost 3 hours.

First time guests. Very pleased with activities for our 8 year old, as well as, Adult friendly areas. We had very little reason to leave the resort, as it contained everything we needed.

The food was perfect in all of the on-site venues. We loved the pool area and location. The transportation to the Pleasure Pier was a wonderful surprise.

I filled out a form for manager. There were a lot of problems. To start with air conditioning couldn't be adjusted. And the balcony door was stuck and engineer had to use WD 40 and said it was scheduled to be replaced. I got a $100 credit for these problems. But there were more. Electrical outlet on lamp didn't work. Bottom slat of top drawer on dresser not attached. Didn't get the water conservation notice till third night. Was charged for a third night of valet parking after took it out of valet although they took the charge off. Ditto for local call. I called the Grotto restaurant on Sunday for a Monday reservation. They said they didn't take them for two but to just stop it. When we stopped in Monday, we found they were closed on Monday. The hotel wasn't up to resort standards.

The balconies with view of pool and ocean are nice, the swimming pool is nice, the room seemed clean.

Many things about the San Luis let us down. We won't ever stay there again. First of all, we arrived half an hour after our check in time and our room was still not ready. We were invited to sit and wait in the lobby. There were other guests waiting for the same reason. After an hour, our room still was not ready so we accepted a room on a lower floor with not as good of a view, but we were ready to unpack and start our vacation. The phone in our room did not work, and the cleaning person did not empty our trash or leave disposable coffee cups for the next day's coffee which isn't fun to discover in the morning when you're craving a cup. To keep non-guests out of their pool, the San Luis gives every guest a wrist bracelet to wear. The hotel also gives every guest a towel card. When you visit the pool, you give the attendant your card and he gives you a towel. The wrist bracelet and towel seemed like a lot of hassle to keep up with at times. We would forget one of the other in the room and have to go back up for it. I've stayed in 4 star resorts before, and the San Luis does not measure up to them by far. Too bad because it's a beautiful hotel and it could be really spectacular. For the price of a room, the San Luis just isn't worth it. There's so many other less expensive hotels that are honestly just as nice.

The view facility was nice and well kept,the staff was great.

For the money, to spend one night I had better beds the night before when I stayed at the Hampton Inn.My wife and I could not believe how little the beds were.I felt I was sleeping in a bed at Motel 6 and I am being as honest as I can.I spent a night at The Kema boardwalk inn and paid $120 a night and it was awesome two double beds that were queen size and plenty of room.Thats what I disliked the most for the money you charged and I probably want do that again at the price you charge.
