Hilton Birmingham Metropole

The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I chose this hotel for it's close proximity to the Genting Arena, and Birmingham International train station. It is a lovely hotel, in a nice setting, and I found it very relaxing.

As with many hotels, the price of bar snacks, meals, and alcoholic beverages were far higher than reasonably expected. However, most annoying of all, is never having anywhere near enough milk, and especially sugar, included with the tea & coffee making facilities. I had to ask for extras, and although I got some, the amount was still too low.

I liked the temperature control in the room, the very comfortable bed, the generous sized towels in the bathroom and the hidden tea/coffee facilities. I initially thought the buffet dinner in the Boulevarde Restaurant was overpriced,until I realised the wide range of dishes on offer . If only my appetite had allowed me to sample them all!! Breakfast was a feast in itself!!!All the staff I encountered we extremely helpful and courteous.

The only drawback I found was the "hidden" tea making facilities door caused a slight barrier to anyone wishing to move to the bathroom when it was open for use.

We had a very nice room, with a good view, which was quiet and tranquil.

The service in the lounge bar was poor. I ordered drinks, which never materialised, so I had to go to the bar myself to get them. Also the food generally was not of a very high standard.

My stay was excellent. What an amazing hotel. Zara was particularly helpful.

Breakfast was varied and enjoyable

First room allocated was totally unsuitable with a walk-in disabled shower unit. We had booked a 'queen' room and expected a queen sized bed. There was only a double provided. We returned to reception where we were given the opportunity to move to another room. The receptionist was unaware of the bed size and told us that it was in between a double and a queen. I have never heard of this bed size! We moved to the new room where we could not get the heating working and the room was particularly cold. The shower door also had screws loose and coming out from the tiles as no raw plugs appeared to have been used. Again we returned to reception to report this. We were offered yet another room, but had by this time tried to settle into our room and did not wish to move. As a small token we were given access to the Executive Lounge. We later discovered that the toilet would not flush whilst the shower was running! Not what you would expect from a Hilton hotel.

The staff and facilities are very very good at this hotel.

Although the rooms and facilities are excellent at this hotel, we were kept awake all night long by very noisy guests going up and down the corridor. We were attending HOYS so had to be up and out early but did not get any sleep. We occupied two rooms on the same floor (rooms 1055 and 1057). We feel that maybe there should be cctv or even polite notices asking guests to consider the other occupants. We all actually left the show early because we were so, so tired. Having bought tickets for both the daytime and evening!!!!! Not happy!!
