Menger Hotel

Loved this historic value of the hotel and we enjoyed sitting outside on the rockers in the garden.

Excellent rooms but guests need to inquire at check-in as to the amenities available in the room assigned, some rooms are very small while other rooms are spacious. For example, when we checked in I asked for a spacious room with seating so we could watch TV in the evenings and not be in a room where we had to sit on the bed, we were therefore given a room with two stuffed chairs which we moved from corners to a location fronting the TV. The king bed was terrific, very comfortable. The hot water was more than ample and most refreshing when taking a shower. The restaurant is first class, there is both a breakfast and lunchtime buffet. I love Eggs Benedict and they are served daily on the breakfast buffet.

It must be remembered that this is an "historic hotel," which means it is very old, built in 1859, and The Menger is kept as original as possible, therefore kinks in various systems will most likely be encountered, such as our room did not have easily controllable heating and air conditioning, while it worked fairly well, it seemed at times the system did "what it wanted and if it wanted." Upon check-in we were given a notice that said heating is only turned on when the outside temperatures drop to 45 degrees and below!

This was my 3rd stay at the Menger. It was as classy, beautiful and amazing as always. Great place to stay, love the history and beauty. Go if you’ve never been you won’t be disappointed. It’s a bucket-list destination. Enjoy it be every time and I will be back

It was a historical hotel, the staff was awesome, enjoyed the stay very much

My wife and I had some friends in from out of town and their first time in Texas. My options were to get a room from a big chain hotel overlooking the Riverwalk or something close by that they would remember as being unique and something they had never seen before and that is what The Menger is.They will remember it forever. The bar is really unique (old style) and the service was very good and a great Sunday brunch.

The location is very convenient and the rooms are very nice.

The bathroom is a bit cramped.

Perfect place for my wife and me, especially its close proximity to the Riverwalk and Alamo!
