Everything. The one thing that I won't forget is sitting in the Lobby for a good bit. Never did that before. Anywhere.

The Palmer is beautiful & the history is wonderful.

I was very surprised the first room I had was very dusty - you could have written your name. But, second night your manager gave me a better room.

Palmer House is a beautiful, historic, stately hotel. It is very convenient to metro, theaters, the Art Institute and numerous lakefront attractions. The room was small but very clean, well appointed and very comfortable.

Having stayed in a "basic" room, the amenities were skimpy (no shower cap, one thin bar of soap for 2 people for 2 nights). We had to ask for extra soap and shampoo/conditioner. Since most hotels provide these, we did not bring our own.

The room was tiny. There was only one bar of soap in the room. The towels and wash cloths were not very good quality. The faucet leaked. A lamp didn't work.

The bathroom was tiny. Rest was great. Some of the other guests were snooty but you have that wherever lol. There was only 1 clerk on duty when I checked in but it was at midnight. There was a huge line for whatever reason.

Very close to things we wanted to do; private bank theatre, art institute, Shedd Aquarium and Field Muaeum

Hotel was overbooked the first night and we had to be sent to another hotel for one night. The Palmer House treated us very welll by getting us to the other hotel in a cab, covering the cost of the second hotel and providing free breakfast

Location, location, comfortable beds, clean rooms, good pillows

Extremely long (40 minute) wait in line at check-in. I think that this is unacceptably too long to wait to check into a hotel. Listening to the grumbling of others in line, I am not alone in my dissatisfaction with the check-in process. I do want to mention that the staff at check-in were exceptionally apologetic and friendly. If you want to make people happy, perhaps have a waiter from the bar bring drink orders over to people in line, or free iced tea and cookies. If this is a perennial problem for check-in, something could be done to make the process more bearable, and to show guests that the management wants to ease the pain of waiting.

Close to activies

A long delay in clearing the $100 deposit per room for incidental charges. I had no charges but the pending charge on my credit card continues to appear weeks after my stay at the hotel.
