Red Roof Inn Wilkes-Barre Arena

Since we were staying there due to extreme storm conditions at our home during hurricane Florence, I was appreciative that the desk clerk was very sympathetic. I also like that pets were welcome even though I did not have a pet with me. Also, for an older building, the room was very clean and rather updated. It was rather easy to find shopping near the property.

The only aspects of my stay that I did not care for was the absence of a microwave and the ash can located directly in front of room doors which created a CIGARETTE ODOR.

Jenn was super welcoming and helpful. We remember her from our stays on a trip to and from CT in November. My dog loved her! She was great with him and always had a treat to share. I really wanted a first floor room with my dog and a heavy cooler. Jenn went out of her way to make sure that we got one. All staff were friendly, but she always went the extra mile and had a smile and a kind word. I also really like the location up away from the highway...but close to everything. Each time I've stayed, it's been convenient to have food delivered to the room so I didn't have to leave the dog.

I'm pretty particular about hot tea and coffee. Both the coffee and the hot water for tea in the lobby could have been hotter. However, the coffee was surprisingly good.

My room was newly refurbished so it was clean and comfortable . Great workstation arrangement served me well as I worked most of one day in the room.

The facility was being renovated so there were times during the day when it was very noisy. When I first moved into my room there was a phone but there was no cord to connect it so I could not call the front desk to report that there was no TV remote, no trash can. The refurbished room covered up problems with the thermostat as the room was either hot or there was no heat. The commode would not stop running after being flushed. I removed the commode lid to find an incredibly dirty tank coated with a dark brown film.

The room was very adequate.

Bedding should be updated. Looked very worn.

The room was not very clean and there was no coffee in the room.

The price for the room was reasonable for the quality. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, both checking in and checking out. Checking in/out was quick and seamless.

The carpet could have been cleaned better, and the curtain on the window had a stain of something on it.

Food from the previous guest was left in the refridgerator. Some of the towels smelled like they came out of a smoking room. Wireless internet strength was low and internet when I could get on was slow. Room was clean although had a sort of musty odor.
