Staff was friendly and helpful and the room was quite large. We also liked that it had a refrigerator.
It was very overpriced for the value we received. It was only a couple of miles from downtown but in the heat of the summer it would have been a very hot walk so we took a cab, which was about $10 each way. It would have been nice if they offered a shuttle service. I was also expecting better cleanliness; the area around the fridge was caked with dust.

I always stay at Howard Johnson's when I'm in Traverse City. Their rates are very low. The rooms are newly refurbished and always clean. The room is comfortable, and I'm picky when it comes to hotels. I will stay there again!
