The beaches are spectacular and the city has much to offer visitors. Attractions A visit to the Ancient Spanish Monastery is an essential item for the itinerary when staying in North Miami and is probably the most beautiful attraction in the area. Originally built in the 12th Century near Segovia in Spain, the monastery was later dismantled, shipped to the United States in pieces, and rebuilt in the 20th Century. Those looking for a dose of culture should see a show at the North Miami Beach Performing Arts Theater, widely considered the best theater in North Dade County, which stages multicultural productions, dance performances, and ballets. The North Miami Beach Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater also holds a number of high-quality shows throughout the year. Get Outdoors North Miami has plenty of green spaces where one can enjoy the outdoors. Greynolds Park, originally the site of a rock quarry, is now a 249-acre park incorporating a golf course, walking trails, a playground and more. Also well worth a visit is Oleta River State Park, which has a vast range of recreational activities available. As a coastal city, North Miami is an excellent place for water activities such as fishing, surfing or scuba diving. For first-timers there are several diving schools around, such as the Mermaids Dive Center in north Dade. For a tranquil escape, visitors can head to nearby Key Biscayne. Being far less busy than the likes of Miami Beach, this charming village guarantees a relaxing time. It boasts stunning white beaches, two waterfront parks, a cycling path and incredible views of Miami. Crandon Park and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park are particularly highly recommended. Eating There is no shortage of excellent eateries in North Miami and its environs. The sophisticated 19th Century Parisian steakhouse called The Forge has a striking décor of rococo design and a menu of exquisite gourmet dishes. It has been known to entertain celebrities like Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra. More casual dining can be enjoyed at Barton G which serves American favorites including popcorn shrimp and grilled sea bass. Another option for light bites is Segafredo with its delicious sandwiches, salads and desserts. For a different kind of shopping experience, Laurenzo’s Italian Food Market, established in 1951, sells a huge range of Italian specialties – meats, cheese, breads, pizzas, pastas, and wines.
