Most of the land now visible was underwater until the 1940s when extensive dredging led to the establishment of the three islands which now make up North Bay Village. One of these, Treasure Island, has street names taken from Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel. The buildings reflect an interesting mix of architectural styles – art deco and Mediterranean-inspired structures are juxtaposed with colorful modern apartment complexes. Spectacular ocean views can be admired from the marina.

In addition to the attractions with North Bay Village itself, there are many places in the surrounding area worth exploring. One can head to Miami Beach, stroll along the boardwalk and admire the abundance of art deco buildings. Those who want to get in touch with nature can take a day trip to the Everglades National Park, or go to the nearby Pelican Island featuring ten acres of leisure space with barbecue pits, picnic tables, and plenty of open space to play ball games. This island is a natural preserve and bird sanctuary with a picturesque marina where many boats and luxury yachts are anchored.

Many of the restaurants have breathtaking waterfront views, adding to the appeal.
