This was once an in-demand nightlife spot – Dean Martin owned a club here, and stars such as Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland came to the city. Today, it still has plenty of attractive features to entice visitors. Exploring the Area Aside from the stunning views of Biscayne Bay, the biggest draw of North Bay Village is the laid-back atmosphere which allows people to luxuriate in a slower, more tranquil lifestyle than is possible in the town’s bustling Miami neighbors. However, this location provides the best of both worlds as these busier destinations are only a short drive away. Most of the land now visible was underwater until the 1940s when extensive dredging led to the establishment of the three islands which now make up North Bay Village. One of these, Treasure Island, has street names taken from Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel. The buildings reflect an interesting mix of architectural styles – art deco and Mediterranean-inspired structures are juxtaposed with colorful modern apartment complexes. Spectacular ocean views can be admired from the marina. In addition to the attractions with North Bay Village itself, there are many places in the surrounding area worth exploring. One can head to Miami Beach, stroll along the boardwalk and admire the abundance of art deco buildings. Those who want to get in touch with nature can take a day trip to the Everglades National Park, or go to the nearby Pelican Island featuring ten acres of leisure space with barbecue pits, picnic tables, and plenty of open space to play ball games. This island is a natural preserve and bird sanctuary with a picturesque marina where many boats and luxury yachts are anchored. Dining North Bay Village is a foodie’s paradise, home to an impressive selection of local restaurants with a particular emphasis on delicious seafood – because of the close proximity of the water on all sides, the catch of the day is never far away. With gourmet restaurants, international chains, cafés and bakeries, there is no shortage of places to savor a sophisticated meal, grab a quick bite to eat, or have a cup of coffee. Many of the restaurants have breathtaking waterfront views, adding to the appeal. Shopping Top retail venues in North Bay Village are the Concord Shopping Plaza and the Lincoln Road Mall. In nearby Miami Beach, numerous shops can be found along Collins Avenue, including the luxurious Bal Harbour Shops, Macy’s and Barneys New York. Are you planning a visit to North Bay Village?
