Only about ten permanent residents live here, but the influx of visitors to the major theme parks each year is somewhere in the millions. Walt Disney World Covering 43 square miles, Walt Disney World encompasses the original Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. With water parks, resort hotels, campgrounds, endless dining options and night skies filled with fireworks, Walt Disney World well deserves its reputation as the most magical place on earth. Magic Kingdom is where the younger kids come to meet their favorite princesses and Disney characters. The iconic castle is here, and a parade of characters marches through the park several times a day. Adults tend to prefer Epcot, where amusement park rides are often more suitable for older age groups. The Around the World Tour takes visitors through different countries, with samples of foreign foods and drinks. Every evening, an epic firework show captivates the entire park. Animal Kingdom is a safari park featuring exotic animals in one of the largest animal theme parks in the world. Over 1,700 animals of 250 species live here, and visitors can travel through Oasis, Discovery Island, Africa, Rafiki’s Planet Watch and even DinoLand. Finally, Hollywood Studios offers a glimpse into Hollywood’s Golden Age, including Hollywood Boulevard, Echo Lake, Sunset Boulevard and Pixar Place. Oak Trail Golf Course Near Walt Disney World is Oak Trail Golf Course, a classic country-club course set amid beautiful villas, forests of pine and the sparkling Buena Vista Lake. This 18-hole course has been rated four stars by Golf Digest, and has hosted the PGA Tour, the LPGA Tour and various USGA events. It’s certified by Audubon International as a Cooperative Wildlife Sanctuary, and its bunkered greens help improve accurate shots. The seventh hole might be the most challenging thanks to its location on an island green. Golf carts with GPS are available for rent, and there are private lessons at an extra cost. Shopping and Entertainment Not far from the Oak Trail Golf Course is Downtown Disney. The name is a little misleading, however, because unlike the other parks, Downtown Disney does not require a park admission. Over 40 shops line the scenic waterfront, with everything from candy shops to the world’s largest Disney Store. World-class restaurants can be found here, as well as a 30-lane bowling alley, Pleasure Island, Downtown Disney Marketplace and more. There’s a DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park and Cirque du Soleil performances, not to mention the DJ Dance Party for children. Ready to take the family to Buena Vista Lake?
