The excellent dinner.
Breakfast was inadequate. Water was cool for tea & there were shortages on variety offered.Friut salad for example had run out. The breakfast experience diluted the pleasure of dinner the evening before. The room TV system should have an international choice.

We enjoyed our meal but service was slow.
Room 21 was dark and dingy, the shower flooded the floor and we were reluctant to open the window as anyone could have climbed in an experience we have had twice in France. We overlooked dripping trees. The bathroom looked as if it was in mid renovation.

Main reason for choosing La Sapinière: Reputation
We like the privacy of the chalet type arrangement of rooms,we like the restaurant and we like the fact that although the hotel is off the beaten track, it's still only twenty minutes from either Calais or Boulogne depending on what channel crossing we've taken.
The rooms can be a bit dark at this time of year, which makes reading a newspaper tricky when you've got failing eyesight. It would also be really nice if there was the facility to make a cup of tea/coffee in the room, rather than have to walk over to the bar.

The food was superb, the staff were very attentive but as stated the cottages where tired. I would say the best time to visit th hotel would be in my oppinion would be in the spring or the autumn.

Generally clean and comfortable.
Staff especially restaurant/chef were unhelpful when a complaint was made about the quality of food served.

Friendly relaxed welcome. We were travelling with our dog and they are happy for him to stay with us and sit under the table in the restaurant. It is also well placed for an easy journey to pick up the eurotunnel crossing.
Bedroom decor a bit dated and tired but still comfortable!

The hotel is conveniently located only 30 minutes away from Calais. In addition, the hotel is just minutes from the motorway (toll). Excellent food. Rooms very comfortable. Very nice staff.

The view from the hotel is very picturesque.
The room, whilst newly decorated, was very old fashioned and cheaply furnished. The rug on the floor was tripped over several times and the electical cabling was unsightly and hazardous. A table lamp did not work.The bath panel was broken. There was a small wooden table in the bathroom with a tablecloth, neither of which were appropriate for a bathroom.
We were charged for desserts that we hadn't had at dinner although this was removed from the bill when we pointed it out.
The breakfast was buffet style but unsupervised and there was no milk and no staff to ask for it.
