Holiday Inn & Suites Virginia Beach North Beach, an IHG Hotel

Excellent job of remodeling and older Holiday Inn. Were very pleased with our stay

Nice variety of pools for kids and a very good Italian restaurant on roof with great views of ocean

Had to argue with manager to get room cleaned and beds made!

This was my second stay at this hotel. My first visit was over a year ago and I was very impressed with the accomodations. I especially liked the extremely comfortable beds..it was like sleeping on a cloud. The hotel room was clean and I liked having the convenience of a microwave and fridge since I usually bring food back from the grocery store and restaurants. I appreciate the hotel having it's own parking deck and valets available to help you load and unload your luggage since parking seems to be an issue with some other hotels on the beachfront. It was also nice having the restaurants on site. The staff was very helpful when we asked for a wine corkscrew and gave us information on call out restaurants who deliver. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Virginia Beach since it was very centrally located and within walking distance of many shops and restaurants.

I learned the difference between an Ocean view room and Ocean front room. I mistakenly booked an ocean view room which was nice but I prefer looking out on the ocean from the 4th floor or higher - hence, an oceanfront room which the hotel was not able to give us. Nothing beats waking up to look out the balcony and see nothing but ocean and a big red sunset. Our first room was on the second floor - ocean view but we asked to be moved since the balcony was overlooking an unsightly roof. We were moved to the 6th floor ocean view which was better but it was overlooking the pool and valet parking section. This turned out to be quite a noisy area because the hotel was showing movies by the pool at specific times and the volume was very high. The noise woke us up since we had our balcony doors open. We called down to the front desk to inquire and was told the movie would be over around 9 or 9:30 pm. We could also hear a lot of traffic noise from this area - even from the 6th floor. I would not recommend this area if you come to the hotel to get away from noise or screaming children. My suggestion is to book an ocean front room or a room away from the pool area on the 4th floor or higher. Another issue - there was no DVD player in the rooms even though they advertise this on the website. Perhaps it was just our rooms that did not have them but I suggest they remove this from the website if the rooms don't have them. We bought dvd's but had to play them on our laptops.

Was assured pool would be warm and it was not.Also lost second nights fee due my wife got sick and she wanted to go home because she did not want togo in pool sick.Was off season and do not think you should not have a two night commitment.So we ate the second day reservation.Will never go with you again,Plus I though I was booking directly with Holliday Inns.
