I liked almost everything: bed was comfortable, room was clean and quiet.
The only objectionable thing: the room way too hot - probably 80 degrees ( onJanuary 27) - and had to turn on the air conditioning to get it cool enough to sleep...

Getting two rooms for the price was outstanding. Great location close to downtown Victoria and to the 17 for getting to other parts of the island.

Main reason for choosing Arbutus Inn: Rate
This is an older hotel that has been updated. The manager is very anxious to please his clients. The hotel was quite clean and the beds VERY comfortable. The location is excellent if you want to see downtown Victoria and Butchardt Gardens. It is on the bus line to both. (75) BUs pass is $5 per day and you can get to BG in 30 minutes or downtown in 15 minutes. All for half the price of a downtown hotel. The BC Ferry Connector drops you 2 streets away. We took an cab to the airport and that was $50.
If you book, ask for an upper floor room. The "first floor" is really underground and the staff are running laundry with the washer room doors open all day. There is no elevator so you either walk up or down to your room. Just a bit tacky.
