The Imperial Torquay

The rooms, decor and staff reflect the Paramount's 5 star past. It now has a 4 star rating which does not do justice to much about the hotel except the Restaurant menu and quality of ingredients which ,sadly, are distinctly mediocre.

Very courteous staff, the food in the dining room was excellent. We had a dinner B&B package and enjoyed getting dresssed-up for dinner. Supplements for extras were reasonable. My only niggle would be that they could possibly have a better selection when it comes to bottled beer. I also found that a type of beer that was served in the bar wasn't then available in the dining room. Staff were all extremely friendly & made sure that we enjoyed our stay. One night my wife & I could not sleep because a heavy insomniac in the room above paced back & forth all night. The reception desk immediately relocated us to another (nicer) room and apologized - all of this during a busy Easter weekend. I also enjoyed the old fashioned snooker room. Very centrally located for all of Torquay & the waterfront. No louts or yobs that one frequently sees in English hotels - all families & couples.
