Location is very central to everything within easy reach. Class Dinner for Fruehsruecken directly across the street.
The hotel smells a little like Katzenpipi, especially in the entrance hall, the room goes still like that. Although water in the shower was hot but only little information.

The location was excellent and the price was great. The rooms were clean and the staff on the desk were very friendly and helpful except for one gentleman, but this was make up for by one other gentleman being particularly helpful.
The carpet on the stairs and landings was very shabby, although the windows were clean on the inside they looked dirty as the outsides of them were very grimy. If these things were seen to it would be a great hotel even without the services but then it would probably cost more to stay there.

Unfortunately il'decor 'and some (very) run down! But beyond the first impression, we were good.

Not a bad hotel at all, great location and so good for local restaurants etc. Would recommend on the basis of price, cos it was a very old hotel and could do with being refurbed but then it was cheap and clean.

GENERAL STATE BUILDING shows abandoned. THE ELEVATOR stopped for more than 24 hours and we had no help with luggage NI RECOGNITION OF PRICE.

Very affordable and very sketchy

Near Union Square and affordable -- front desk was pretty friendly
Run-down, elevator was a little scary to ride in, quite a bit of rotting wood in bathroom and window sill REALLY rotted -- broken/cracked plexiglass window, VERY loud location at night (lots of yelling outside that kept us awake...and we were 6 floors up), also walking near the hotel in the evening/at night was intimidating because of the high number of sketchy characters around, had to pay for use of the wireless internet connection. Overall just didn't feel safe or clean.

Description should read "youth hostle with private bath" - Don't expect to get help or information from the desk staff, they are bearly ammused enough to swipe your credit card at your arrival and when asked a direct question for assistnace, the information provided is usually wrong, because they really can't be bothered to look it up or help you look it up. The rooms are small, but the beds are soft.

Location Location Location! Walking distance to the best shopping in town and right on the trolly line! 3 blocks from the BART station!
