The Maids Head Hotel

No porter service offered. breakfast at £12.95p. far too expensive - we went elsewhere. Room extremely noisy from outside rowdiness until 3.45 am on the Friday night and 2.30 am Saturday night.

The staff were very accomodating,helpful and friendly. the refurbished rooms were nicely done and very comfortable. the food was quite good. the bar was comfy and historic. overall a very welcoming and homey place to stay. would definately stay there again

No radiator in the bathroom, freezing, but otherwise really good.

I have written a formal complaint as the room was very noisy with the refrigeration unit directly below the room and we had constant noise all night the dirty carpet badly stained, the cobwebs and badly stained ceiling from previous leaks, the wall paper pealing and the dirty bathroom with urine stains round the toilet and hair left in the bath mat did not impress me. Also a person evicted from the hotel tried to climb up the building below the bedroom window shouting to be let in at 2.30am the security was slow. In all with no sleep and a room I felt uncomfortable in ruined what should have been an enjoyable beginning to the new year. I also did not eat at the hotel as I felt that if the room was a reflection on the standards maintained it was not advisable.i have had a reply to my complaint offering an upgrade if I book with the hotel again.

Despite being the historical building, the room had been maintained clean. The room in which we stayed was big enough to set the extra bed. We had quite a good time at this hotel.

The staff here are really rude, they dont look you in the eye, they keep on doing what they are doing while you stand there. When we checked out it took ages for the receptionist to look up and eventually she handed us over to someone else equally dismissive. Would not recommend to a friend.

The room was very basic and once the price of breakfast was added to the cost then I don't believe it was value for money. However, the common areas (lounge, bar and breakfast room) were lovely and every member of staff was very helpful, friendly and welcoming

Better than expected, excellent value, superb room and centrally located.
