This hotel is loud and the non smoking rooms smell very strongly of smoke.

Location... close to the Hospital, is most desirable!!
Our room needed a good 'scrubbing'... as in,
down-on-knees with a brush scrubbing!!

Relatively quite. The young man at the front dest was very pleasant and helpful.
The bathroom light and fan made a terrible noise. Had to leave the light off.

The only thing I liked about the Howard Johnson was it's location.
It was a nightmare from the start. I was told I had to pay an extra $100 for a damage deposit when I arrived that I was not prepared for. The door to our room didn't work properly. There was Garbage behind the door, in the drawers and between the night stands. The room stunk badly. There was food splatter by the sink, the toilet seat was broken and the shower didn't work. The only clean thing was the sheets, which were so heavily bleached that my boyfriend and I got a skin rash. Nothing was done when I complained about these things. We spend as little time as possible in that slummy place.

Location was convenient for us & beds were actually quite comfortable
Staff were not well trained or helpful - would not go the extra mile on things like later check out time which would have really helped us

The continental breakfast was sufficient and let us get a quick get away.

The young man who checked us in was very polite & informative.
The room was not clean. It was a lower floor room that opened to the outside but the carpet on the floor had not been vacuumed at all! There was leaves & dirt on the floor, along the wall under the window & under the heater. The vacuuming was just sloppy. Also, after leaving drops of coke in a cup on the bedside table for about 6 hours, I picked up the cup & there was an ant inside! Not comforting just before we clot into bed!.
