Glacier View Lodge

Love staying at the Glacier View for it's proximity to the Athabasca Glacier. Such a wonderful view to wake up to in the morning. The hotel is clean.

The bed/mattress in our room was horrible and way beyond needing replacement. We mentioned this at the front desk on our way out. We stayed in this hotel 4 yrs ago and do not recall having an issue with the mattress quality. Must just be time for an upgrade. Another thing we noticed this time compared to last time- the walls are very thin. We had a family with rowdy children next to our room that we eventually had to call and complain about since they were up past 11pm running/screaming about. Also, Wifi would be nice to have on the hotel level.

There is NO signage on the hotel. Everyone in our group missed the hotel and had to turn around after a few miles. Even the directions on the website didnt help

The whole complex is geared towards passing bus tourists not hotel guests. Had to ask where the lobby was, located in a small room. There is nothing for the guests, it is all about their glacier tours. The hotel was completely overpriced, the food was also overpriced. A very unsatisfactory stay.

The view and location were superb. The room was surprisingly roomy and very comfortable. It was very convenient to be right at the Columbia Icefield for our day's adventuring. If you want to be in that location but do not wish to camp, it is the only choice (literally).

The price is very high and reflects the scarcity of accommodation in the area, rather than the quality of the hotel. There is no pool, spa, hot tub or sauna, any of which would have been appreciated after a day of hiking and adventuring in the mountains. The big interpretive display on the glacier was closed for renovation which was very disappointing and there was no wi-fi to enable us to look up some information on our own.

The bathroom sink was stopped up and overflowed. The elevator did not work. The restaurant--the only food for about thirty miles--was enormously expensive.
