The location is great! It's just a shame that such a nice location isn't being fully utilized.
The whole hotel is out-of-date. The place looks like it's barely managing to stay in business. The elevators feel like they haven't been serviced in 20 years, the decor and general feel of the public spaces and hallways is "old". The rooms are baren feeling, like being in a hospital or an empty college dorm room. It seems to me that Naniloa Volcanoes Resort was a FANCY place in the 70s, but hasn't been touched since then and has gone into survival mode.

Beautiful view.
Not told where smoking area is, had to come back to ask. Bath tub is tall, difficult to get in and out of. TV on top of closet, too high have to look up. No explanation of TV stations or of hotel itself. Had to ask again where ice machine is, one floor up.

It was close to town.
The hotel had a lot of mold throughout. The walls windowsills and baseboards all had mold on them. The person checking us in was not very friendly or helpful. I was very surprised that this was given a 3 star rating given how run down and dirty it was.

I liked it was close to the airport and easy to find. Though not much to look at from the outside, I was skeptical at first, the room I stayed in did have a beautiful view of the bay and was clean, comfortable, and cable television along with tiled floors and bathroom.
I thought for as many guests there were and the size of it, there should have been more staff available, especially when needing to take care of an acting up elevator and mystery alarm.
