Graduate Berkeley

I have long loved this hotel, since staying there in the 60s while taking an extension class for teachers at UC-Berkeley and overhearing world-famous linguists having a conversation about the social applications of linguistics in your breakfast room. Now, in retirement from a career of teaching linguistics in a nearby university, I am attending meetings for an organization I volunteer for. The only real problem on this recent visit was that my backpack was too heavy for the climb from the Bart station to the hotel. Next time I will take a taxi. Thank you for being there for all of us who have gone in and out of Berkeley over so many years.

Because it's an old hotel, I don't suppose there's much you can do about it, but you can hear a lot of noise from other rooms in your room--all the people above and next door moving around, etc. And somehow I heard voices and music coming through the bathroom vent!

Le personnel est vraiment disponible et semble faire au mieux pour vous rendre service. Il font en plus un effort visible pour se faire comprendre et vous comprendre, en prenant leur temps, ce qui n'est malheureusement pas toujours le cas dans d'autres hotels

Les cartes magnétiques qui servent de clés pour les chambres ne marchent pas toujours très bien... heureusement, il y a toujours quelqu'un à l’accueil pour vous aider.

Location is great, staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are small, but adequate.

I stay there at least once a year and have always asked why there is no kettle for hot water in the room. The coffee machine is good but it would be nice to be able to have soups, etc. Also, this year, the noise from the street level from students and others at all hours of the night was disturbing for sleep, but I recognize you are near students and it is difficult to control.

Proximity to campus. Access to hotel lounge (incl wine serving).

No air conditioning.
