Colonial Gables Oceanfront Village

The view of the bay and the ease of access to all we wanted to do. Next time we visit we'll probably try a one bedroom cabin.

We loved staying at Colonial Gables! It was perfect in every way! We stayed in the motel. The room was clean and fresh with a beautiful view of the ocean from our private deck. What a treat. The gardens added to the charm of the place: just beautiful! The staff made us feel like family. I would love to stay in one of the cabins with a fireplace the next time I visit. It was so quiet and so close to Belfast we could have easily walked there over the walking bridge just down the road. Belfast is the perfect town to stay near in this area. It is a quintessential Maine town with lots of good places to eat and lovely shops but not too touristy. There is a great food coop in town and a wonderful farmer's market on Saturday. Acadia national park is a great day trip and you avoid all of the crowds and traffic in Bar Harbor and Camden. We also went down to Deer Island and took the mail boat to Isle au Haut. It was a fantastic time and Colonial Gables made everything so comfortable. It could not have been better!

Convenient location to Belfast and other locales; oceanfront--sort of

The room seemed tired and not carefully looked at after each stay. It was reasonably clean but not up to typical standards. Our air conditioner had no knob to turn it on or adjust the temps! That's pretty obvious! So I would say some better oversight in the course of a busy summer season is a must.

The word luxury in our opionion would only apply to the views. The comforter on the bed was so old it could not have been clean - we did not use it. There was no daily refill of the coffee packets. In fact we left on the 3rd day and the room still had not been cleaned. We did not see any cleaning staff or any staqff for that matter other than to sign in.

We loved the fact that the Village was right on the water, with a walk-able beach practically outside our door. Also, proximity to the town of Belfast, with good eating spots near-by. Parking was right outside the door, and despite the cool and damp weather during our stay, the heating in the cottage really kept us cozy. Don't know if this place is for everybody - you have to like the idea of a summer cabin on the beach, rather than a regular motel.

The location was the best possible.
