The Bulkeley Hotel

Great improvement on last time i stayed there

This is an old hotel with bright, spacious and comfortable lounges and comfortable rooms (in our case).There is a pleasant sea view from the rear.Good range of meals from snacks in the Coffee Shop, the Bistro and the Restaraunt. Don't get back to the hotel too late in the evening if you want a place in the car park. We stopped just before the school holidays begun when the hotel and the island was quiet.We would stay here again.

Beautiful setting hotel generally very nice, but some decor was a little tired. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Great with Dad and Dog, will definitely go again.

A splendid location overlooking the straits, the hotel itself is a nice mix of old and new and the staff were polite and attentive without being imposing. However the toilet in the room we were allocated did not flush properly and we both spent a considerable amount of time trying to avoid a flood as the water level rose so high it almost emptied the contents onto the floor. We chose to eat in the restuarant on our 2nd night largely due to the fact that the set menu appeared to be good value for money and we had thorughly enjoyed our breakfast. Unfortunately the meal was appaling, cold and tasteless, althugh the service was excellent. We soon realised why the restaurant was empty on a busy bank holiday saturday. We did hear good reports regarding the Bistro. Overall i was happy with our stay but did feel that these factors spoilt an otherwise enjoyable time which was part of my husbands 50th birthday celebrations
