Hotel Belles Rives

The presence of water attractions, a good beach. Great atmosphere.

I liked everything.

This is a very special hotel. However, we were disappointed with the service we received.

On December 8th, two days before we were due to leave home for our holiday at the Belles Rives Hotel, we received a telephone call from them advising us the dining room would be closed after Thursday 17 December. Of course at this point in time we could not cancel our reservation without losing our deposit. However, we were happy to continue. On arrival, the hotel receptionist informed us the dining room would now be closed after the 12th December. We booked the holiday in September 2009 as it was the wish of my wife to stay at this particular hotel and to celebrate her 70th birthday on 15th December. I think it goes without saying she was more than disappointed. Sadly the receptionist on duty at the time of our arrival, appeared unconcerned that we were somewhat disillusioned, but recommended three alternatives! Dinner at their sister hotel, room service in our bedroom on my special night or a "nice" restaurant they could recommend (which we found had been closed for weeks for structural works to be carried out) and was some 3 miles out of town. Also, on my actual birthday some friends in Nottingham sent me a congratulatory e.mail to the Belles Rives but the hotel did not pass it on to us. Unforgivable!
